Angélica Freitas is a Brazilian poet whose work has appeared in journals throughout Latin America and Europe. Her first collection, Rilke Shake, was published in 2007. She is the recipient of a writing fellowship from Programa Petrobras Cultural, and co-edits the Brazilian poetry journal Modo de Usar & Co. She lives in Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul.
Hilary Kaplan received a 2011 PEN Translation Fund award for her translation of Rilke Shake. Her translations appear in Litro, PEN America, Rattapallax, World Literature Today, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA from San Francisco State University and is completing a Ph.D. in comparative literature at Brown University.
