Lydia Razran Stone is a free-lance technical translator and the editor of SlavFile, the publication of the Slavic Language Division of the American Translators Association. Translation of literature is a long-standing avocation, but she has only recently begun to publish. Her last bilingual book, published by Cornerstone Press (2000), was Wind
of the Journey: Poems by Irina Ratushinskaya. Another book of poetic
translations, From Baku to Brooklyn: The Poetry of Liana Alaverdova, will be published by Cross Cultural Communications in 2001. Her specialties are humor and 19th-century poetry. She lives in Alexandria, VA, where she tries not to take anything too seriously.
