Charles Cutler

Charles Cutler has translated the work of Brazilian poets such as Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Thiago de Mello, and João de Jesus Paes Loureiro, as well as contemporary Portuguese writers, including Maria Velho da Costa and Eduardo Dionísio. He is currently working on Astrid Cabral’s poetry, new English versions of Cecilia Meireles and the prose poems of the nineteenth- century African-Brazilian poet, Cruz e Sousa. He is co-editor of the new Amazonian Literary Review and Professor of Spanish and Portuguese at Smith College.
