Bruce Berger has written various books on the intersection of nature and culture in desert settings, including The Telling Distance, winner of the 1990 Western States Book Award. Two of his books focus on Baja California: Almost an Island (The University of Arizona Press) and Sierra, Sea and Desert: The Vizcaino (Sierra Madre), available in English and Spanish editions in Mexico.
