Bilingual Reading by Students from Poetry Inside Out
Poetry Inside Out (PIO) presents an evening of poetry in two languages!
Bilingual poetry readings feature elementary school students from
the PIO program at Hawthorne & Cragmont Schools taught by John
Oliver Simon. Students will read their original poems and translations
of each other's work as well as poems by great masters of Spanish-language
poetry (Neruda, Garcia Lorca, Huerta, etc). PIO is the Center for Art
in Translation's educational project that brings translation into
the schools to increase language comprehension and cultural awareness.
This event is free and open to the public.
