Elementary, Hoover Middle School, and James Lick Middle School; in Oakland
Unified School District: Dolores Huerta Learning Academy, Claremont Middle
School, Westlake Middle School, Lazear Elementary, Jefferson Elementary,
Sobrante Park Elementary, and Allendale Elementary; in Berkeley Unified

Contra Costa Unified School District: Downer Elementary; in Buffalo Public
Schools: Herman Badillo Bilingual Academy.
A special thanks to the students who continue to feed our enthusiasm with
their incredible writing and insight. We admire their creativity and courage
to share their poetry.
Poetry Inside Out would not have been possible without the creative spark,
perseverance, and tenacity of Michael Ray who has moved on to new adventures
in public school administration. He paved the way for the PIO program to
grow and was always "un hombre sincero." Thanks, Mike, and best of luck on
your next adventures.
The Best of Poetry Inside Out 2005: A Secret Between You and the Pencil/ Un
secreto entre tú y el lápiz is truly a piece of art thanks to Adriana Pérez and Rudy Garibay from Cultura Design. Adriana and Rudy donated their incredible talent and a huge amount of time to design the book cover and layout. This was a very generous gift to our program and the students'
anthology.
The Poetry Inside Out program is partially supported by grants from the
California Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, which
believes that a great nation deserves great art. PIO would also like to
acknowledge the support of the Walter & Elise Haas Fund and the Irene S.
Scully Family Foundation.
